2.6 Health and Special Category Data

Some of the personal data we collect is classified as special category data under Article 9 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). This includes:

  • Information about injuries, medical conditions, or physical limitations
  • Dietary requirements related to health conditions
  • Exercise history and performance data
  • Video recordings of exercise form submitted for AI analysis

Legal basis for processing: We process this health-related data on the basis of your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) of the UK GDPR. You provide this consent when you accept our Health and Safety Notice before using AI-powered features.

This health data is used to provide personalised fitness services, including AI-generated workout recommendations, exercise form analysis, and coaching advice. It is also shared with our third-party AI service providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) for processing as described in Section 4.2.

Withdrawing consent: You may withdraw your consent to the processing of your health data at any time by deleting your account through your profile settings. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. Please note that withdrawing consent will mean you can no longer use the AI-powered features of the app.

We use third-party AI service providers (such as OpenAI and Anthropic) to provide AI-powered features including:

  • Workout summaries after completing sessions
  • Ask AI conversations (Pro users)
  • Workout template generation

When using these features, your workout data, profile information, and conversation history may be sent to these third-party AI service providers for processing. Their use of your data is governed by their respective Privacy Policies. We do not use your data to train AI models.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in our database:
